The challenge within this painting (considering its multiple figures and expansive park cityscape scene) is getting the color combination right. The sketch was for another piece that featured this very same bartender

but with the portrait being rendered in Black and White (with a hint of Yellow for warmth) I kept to the “Keep it simple” rule and used an overall sunny

the simplification of each element must be done thoughtfully
