Atlantic Souvenir for 1828Very early example of a 19th century gift book containing stories, verses, & engravings, dated 1828. Marble cover boards half bound in black leather. Condition is very good with some edgewear & foxing.

The form is very evocative

the only real condition issue is the beaded tassel at the bottom needs replacing

The frame is meant to sit table-top but you could easily add hardware to the back if you would like to fit it to hang

Opinion was split on how children should be dressed in mourning

and it was prescribed liberally for every conceivable complaint in the Victorian era
