NOS Knutsen "Gresshoppa" Cable Cross-Country Ski Bindings from Norway - NEWNEWNEW
Description
NOS Knutsen "Gresshoppa" Cable Cross-Country Ski Bindings from Norway - NEWNEWNEWIn the 1950s and early 1960s, there was ALL OUT WAR in Norway between the two competing cable style ski binding brands, Gresvig's "Kandahar" and Knutsen's "Gresshoppa". This is an example of the latter. The kit is completely unused, with all parts (including screws) included. It is the "Dame" size, which is slightly smaller and meant for ladies. The box has seen better days, but unlike most things it is actually older than I am so I give it a pass!
As simple as this device looks
The Engerdal Skifabrikk of Norway made some of the most beautiful wood skis in the late 1960s and early 1970s under the Eggen brand
Beautiful pair of 180cm Splitkein "J2" model wood cross-country skis
and tarred
Hence the partnership with a USA vendor
This example has seen some use
In its manufacturing heyday
with world championship or Olympic medals in both disciplines
with a handle that could only be described as "prehistoric"
It's hard to believe that these skis are nearly 60 years old
and this pair of poles is a nice example
Hickory bases with lignostone edges
