Nepenthes veitchii (Murud Striped x Candy), Specimen EThis plant was bred by Christian Klein, the famous German nurseryman with one of the world's best veitchii collections. The cross was done between a striped veitchii from the Kelabit Highland and an extremely squat, pink variety with candy striped peristome. It produces spotted pitchers with a unique bronze hue that we've only observed from Papuan ampullaria

This cross has been made twice

We've find it easier to grow than either species

It combines the unique growth habit and deep red coloration of Nepenthes ampullaria “William’s Red” with the sinister clawed peristome of Nepenthes hamata

We expect it to grow well under a wide range of conditions

So far they seem to get deep red coloration and the woody pitcher texture with striped peristome from the veitchii x lowii parent
