I once drew dozens and dozens of quick ink versions of them same photo

with me trying to somehow add something of his self portraits in there

But I guess many dead white bearded white dudes do look the same

and tried again

and exploring things directly with ink that would previously have needed a lot sketching and pencilling

and the word of the day was “Build”

I ended up pushing my inking skills to their limits

And in hindsight it may have been an early sign of questioning whether my own mask was just something I used to hide my depressions
