Woven Creel Basket / Foraging Basket with Leather StrapWhat is a creel basket, you may wonder? It is a basket fly fishermen used (and some still use) to keep their catch cool. It was often lined with moss and dipped into the cold waters of the creek or river. Caught fish were then inserted through the slot in the top and kept cool as the fisherman continued fishing. Luckily, this particular basket is in good vintage condition and does not smell fishy at all! There is some fraying of the adjustable leather

and although I can't confirm its date

with very little discoloration

as shown in the photos

with some fading in all the right places to give it a beautiful patina

this book would be a lovely addition for any book collector

with slight wear and discoloration that only adds to the patina
